Second life was created to encourage people to lead there lifes online and give people the oppertunity to lead a life that they never achieved. However the site also has the power to encourage global communication and co-operation, because people can make friends with people on the site that in reality they would never get to meet. The major concern with online technology is that it can be used by people like pedophiles who use the internet to talk to children and the problem is that recently young people have been encouraged to give out more personal information. More people join the online community everyday and it is having serious effects on the way that people interact. Now instead of talking to each other on the phone each day for a few minutes, people can now speak to each other on the internet for hours at a very low price. This means that buisnesses like post offices are starting to be closed down alot more because people no longer have any need to post letters. The increase in people talking over the internet is a cause for concern because now people are at risk of giving there personal information away over the internet for anyone to view, this can cause people to get scammed out of there money and is a serious problem. This problem just shows that in the digital age even the online community is still at risk of crime, but the law is powerless to catch these people online because even if you managed to remove them from the internet they would be able to just come back and start again.
